Grand Sumo Tournaments in Osaka and Tokyo

In 2015 and 2017 I attended the Grand Sumo Tournament in Osaka and Tokyo respectively.  Sumo wrestling is one of the most popular sports in Japan and the tickets go very fast.  For 2015 we had to buy tickets 3 months in advance and for 2017 it was sold out except for a package tour that included a sake tasting and garden tour(which was totally … Continue reading Grand Sumo Tournaments in Osaka and Tokyo

Meow Wolf aka The Greatest Mystery Exhibit Ever

Over the last year I kept hearing about the fabulously weird place called Meow Wolf so much that I decided to go on a road trip to find out what the big deal was.  We made a couple other stops on the way that were worth their own writeups here and here. Let me say this first, I loved this place.  The exhibit we saw … Continue reading Meow Wolf aka The Greatest Mystery Exhibit Ever

Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam – Yes, I Was Kind of High

One of my fondest memories with my dad was our 2nd European trip when we decided to go to Amsterdam.  Now, my father is a very conservative, goofy, yet a bit rigid man and I was not really sure how he would handle a city like Amsterdam.  Overall, besides getting into a WW2 argument with a ticket taker, he seemed to love it. Side note, … Continue reading Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam – Yes, I Was Kind of High

Driving Monster Trucks in Indiana

I’m a believer that every state in America has something weird to offer, and I plan to find out what those are.  In one of my first attempts at finding the uniquely fun I was introduced to a place in Franklin Indiana called Radical Racing Monster Truck Driving School.  From the name I think you can assume where this is going… The cost is pretty … Continue reading Driving Monster Trucks in Indiana

The House Obsession Built at Bishop Castle, Colorado

I’ve been to a few weird, obscure, and underappreciated sites in my travels but this one is on a bit of a different scale. Bishop Castle, which was built by one man, Jim Bishop, starting in 1969 and continuing to this day.  If you come on the weekends you are most likely to see him still working on it.  The history on the site is … Continue reading The House Obsession Built at Bishop Castle, Colorado

Carolina Reapers, Drag Queens, and Ninjas – A Guide to an Epic Night in New York City

Early October this year I was in New York City for a Comic Con…yea I seem to go to a lot of those I know.  However while I was there I ended up have a night that I will remember for a long time because of the just general absurdity that ended up happening.  I’m going to take you on a stop by stop tour … Continue reading Carolina Reapers, Drag Queens, and Ninjas – A Guide to an Epic Night in New York City

Quick Review – Prison Hotel in Helsinki

This is the 3rd entry I’ve made on my trip to Helsinki.  Please check out the first two here on the Teddy Bear Museum and Suomenlinna Island. Hotel Katajanokka or as it is easier to type into Google, the prison hotel.  This place got it’s name from (obviously)being an old prison converted to a hotel.  The aesthetic is definitely present. From my room you could view … Continue reading Quick Review – Prison Hotel in Helsinki

24 Hours in Tallinn

I’m going to apologize in advance for this article.  It won’t go into the depth and thoroughness that Tallinn deserves in a post because simply I had too much to drink on the boat ride over and didn’t take enough pictures. From boat to boat, 24 hours in Tallinn can be a bit of a roller coaster.  My recommendation is to start in Helsinki then … Continue reading 24 Hours in Tallinn
